Software Engineer



Working as part of a small software development team. Key responsibilities include software development from strategy and architecture through to specification, design and coding of new programs to debugging and lab and beta testing, also the preparation of software manuals, working with external designers, and working with the customer service team providing software support



A proven track record in designing and programming C instrument control applications, design and development of user interface. A competent knowledge in Object orientated analysis and design, and modern development processes and practices. Competence in developing embedded software / firmware, test-focused software development, programming for windows and Linux operating systems. Desirable skills also include Lab view, Visual Basic, QT,SQL, Java Script software design and programming. The ideal candidate will have proven experience of programming for scientific instrumentation, ideally for control and monitoring systems and possess a good understanding of scientific instrumentation applications.



The successful candidate will have excellent communication and team working skills with a strong customer focus. Must have methodical approach and strong attention to detail. Good software project planning skills and be pragmatic in finding the most efficient solution with a keenness to develop own self. The role also requires flexibility as the role requires a degree of travel
